In the first part of my interview with Jim Rogers, we cover the most important languages to study. It wasn’t hard to guess that he would place Mandarin on the top of the list because he moved to Singapore with his family. He basically wanted his children to be immersed in the language because he knows that the 21st century will belong to China.
I have to emphasize that now is the time to learn Mandarin because China is projected to have a larger economy than the US by the year 2016. As for myself, during high school I learned Japanese because at the time Japan was experiencing a bubble economy. Just as Japanese prosperity was waning, my studies began and unfortunately, I finished 12 years later during its recession. In this interview, Jim is wholeheartedly optimistic for a century of Chinese dominance. Whether its influence is long lasting or not, it makes sense to make Mandarin study a priority.
